Also, no stay in Dublin is complete without a visit to Gaiety Theatre to see the world famous Riverdance, this will be a night to remember.

Our first day’s golf is at the world renowned Portmarnock GC, the links is consistently ranked amongst the top golf courses in the world. Tom Watson (Open Champion on 5 occasions) summed up the links during his visits by saying "There are no tricks or nasty surprises, only an honest, albeit searching test of shot making skills." On the following day we then enjoy The Island Golf Club, founded in 1890 this championship links enjoys a growing international reputation and currently hosts Regional Qualifying for The Open, sometimes referred to as The British Open or The Open Championship.

Departing Dublin, we start our journey traveling along Irelands East Coast through the coastal town of Dundalk. After arrival in Belfast, we will embark on a City overview tour before we check into your hotel room at the fabulous Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast, located right in the centre of the city adjacent to Grand Opera House. This will be our accommodation for the next 5 nights as we explore the Titanic Museum, St Georges Market in the City of Belfast, the delightful town of Downpatrick before making our way to Royal Portrush to enjoy the weekend's play at the The 153rd Open.

Our first golf stop in Northern Ireland is a drive south to the coastal town of Newcastle to the world-renowned Royal County Down, consistently ranked in the World’s Top 10 courses this outstanding links presents a true challenge set against the magnificent backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne.

Our final day playing golf is at the oldest golf club in Ireland Royal Belfast , this terrific parkland layout in a majestic, wooded setting provides a stern test that’s pleasing for all players. Designed by Harry Colt (of Royal Portrush fame) this course is described by Padraig Harrington as a “Hidden Gem” and counts a certain Rory McIlroy as a member.

On Saturday we travel by coach to capture the third days play at the The 153rd Open, Royal Portrush Golf Club. The Dunluce Links is rated as one of the most challenging and spectacular links courses in the world. The Links is named after the nearby ruins of the medieval Dunluce Castle located on the edge of a basalt outcropping overlooking the sea between Portrush and Portballintrae.

The original architect was the famed Harry Colt who produced a breathtaking golf links with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. In 2015, for the hosting of The Open in 2019, redesign works commenced under the stewardship of Martin Ebert. For the next 18 months, the shifting sands gave way to the building of five new greens, eight new tee boxes, 10 new bunkers and the creation of two new holes, the 7th and 8th, on land which was once part of the Valley Links. The result is a magnificent layout providing a fair and scenically stunning challenge for even the best golfers in the world. We will then return to Belfast to discuss the days play and who we think will raise the Claret Jug aloft the following day!

With much excitement and anticipation on Sunday morning, we will then return to Royal Portrush for the enthralling final days play! Who will follow in Shane Lowrys footsteps from 2019?? When Shane triumphed over this magnificent links, he was rumoured to be celebrating in the bars of Belfast for days pints of Irelands finest flowing! Another home win for the Irish would surely be celebrated in a similar fashion.

Detailed Itinerary

SUNDAY, JULY 13: DUBLIN, IRELAND

Arrive Dublin Airport. Met on arrival where you will be transferred to relax at your hotel, College Green, Dublin.

This evening we invite you to attend our Welcome Party & Dinner at the stunning College Green Hotel.

OVERNIGHT: College Green, Dublin – Deluxe Room

MONDAY, JULY 14: DUBLIN, IRELAND

GOLF: Today we play the world renowned Portmarnock GC, the links is consistently ranked amongst the top golf courses in the world. With a rich history closely aligned to the progression of golf in Ireland, Portmarnock has hosted many major professional and amateur events including multiple Irish Open Championships, the Walker Cup, the Irish Amateur Close Championship, and the British Amateur Championship. From Sam Snead to Seve Ballesteros, some of golf's best-known names have tested their skills here on the north Dublin peninsula. Considered by many as one of the fairest links courses in the world, it delivers an incredible challenge and true test of golf. We invite you to experience links golf at its purest. Portmarnock Golf Club was ranked as the best golf course in Ireland, Golf Digest Magazine, 2004/15 and Tom Watson (Open Champion on 5 occasions) summed up the links during his visits by saying "There are no tricks or nasty surprises, only an honest, albeit searching test of shot making skills."

SIGHTSEEING: A Day in Dublin! A good place to begin is The National Museum of Ireland on Kildare Street for a well-designed archaeological collection featuring Bronze Age gold jewelry and Viking swords. The stars of the show are the “bog people” — preserved corpses of men who were killed (presumably sacrificed) and tossed into peat bogs during the Iron Age. The preservative qualities are remarkable. Dublin is home to St Patrick’s Cathedral of course but much of Ireland’s history can be read in Christ Church Cathedral, which dates to circa 1030. Dublin’s booming culinary scene is found along Exchequer Street where The Green Hen has won many admirers with its combination of French atmosphere and Franco-Irish cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. Try the pan-fried duck breast. Finally, while craft beer is certainly the popular new thing, a pint of “the black stuff” is still required drinking on any trip to Dublin. The Guinness Storehouse Museum at the St. James’s Gate brewery explains how the stout is made and how to pull a proper pint at the correct 45-degree angle and waiting 119.5 seconds before topping it off.

Evening – Visit to the Gaiety Theatre Dublin for the Riverdance Show. (tour inclusion subject to final confirmation of performance dates).

OVERNIGHT: College Green, Dublin – Deluxe Room

TUESDAY, JULY 15: DUBLIN, IRELAND

GOLF: Today we enjoy The Island Golf Club, founded in 1890, is a traditional private Members’ golf club with a proud history of upholding the best traditions of amateur golf. Overlooked by the North County Dublin village of Malahide, the links is located in some of the most stunning dunes on the east coast of Ireland. It is also one of the oldest golf courses in Ireland and was ranked 9th in Irish Golfer’s Top 100 Courses in 2021. It enjoys a growing international reputation and currently hosts Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship and has hosted Strokeplay qualifying for the British Amateur Championship in 2019. The Island Golf Club also hosted The Irish Amateur Open in 2023.

SIGHTSEEING: Newgrange is  Neolithic passage grave in the valley of the River Boyne, County Meath,  Ireland. Built by Stone Age farmers about 3200 BCE, it is regarded as the finest grave of its kind in Europe.Newgrange consists of a huge circular mound of stones, some 279 feet (85 m) in diameter and 43 feet (13 m) high, which was later, possibly in the Bronze Age , surrounded by a ring of 35 or more standing stones, of which 12 are still in place. Complicated spirals, zigzags, and other patterns are cut into the stones. Their significance is a mystery, but one theory is that they were connected with the recording of astronomical events, such as the apparent movement of the Sun and the phases of the Moon, in a society that depended on agriculture and needed an efficient calendar.

From New Grange we would then move back to Dublin City for some free time to explore Irelands stunning capital city.

OVERNIGHT: College Green, Dublin – Deluxe Room

Host to the 2007 Walker Cup Match featuring a young local by the name of Rory McIlroy, and an all-star USA line-up.

SIGHTSEEING: Visit Downpatrick an important historical town, which until recently was almost entirely surrounded by water. It is here that you should visit the Saint Patrick Centre, which tells the story of Ireland’s patron Saint before visiting the traditional site of St. Patrick’s Grave in the nearby grounds of Down Cathedral. This great diversity of style and plants from every continent were ingeniously combined by Edith, Lady Londonderry to produce a garden of outstanding quality and character.

As one of the country's premier 18-hole private members' clubs, visitors are assured of a very warm welcome, a wonderful golfing experience on the Harry Colt designed course and first-class service in the splendid Victorian clubhouse.

SIGHTSEEING: St Georges Market & The Titanic Museum -There has been a Friday market on the St George's site since 1604. The present award-winning St George's Market, built between 1890 and 1896, is one of Belfast's oldest attractions. As well as being home to some of the finest fresh produce, with customers travelling near and far to sample the delights of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday markets, it has become one of the city's most popular places to visit, since its £4.5m refurbishment in 1997, this charming Victorian building offers one of the most vibrant and colorful destinations that Belfast has to offer.

Titanic Musuem Belfast, named the World's Leading Tourist Attraction at the prestigious World Travel Awards in 2016, is located beside the Titanic Slipways, the Harland and Wolff Drawing Offices and Hamilton Graving Dock, the very place where Titanic was designed, built and launched in 1911. Titanic Belfast tells the story of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to its maiden voyage and subsequent place in history. The self-guided Titanic Experience extends over nine interpretive and interactive galleries, which explore the sights, sounds, smells and stories of RMS Titanic, as well as the city and people who made her.

Golf Schedule

Portmarnock image

Portmarnock Golf Club is the undisputed leading links in Dublin, found only 10 miles from the airport.  It is also recognized as one of the finest in the world regularly listed among the top 50.  The Irish Open has played here nearly 20 times along with the Walker Cup, the Irish Amateur Close Championship and the British Amateur Championship.   Found on 500 acres of a sandy peninsula facing the Irish Sea, the club opened in 1894 with nine holes before nine more were added two years later forming the championship layout played today. The site is fairly flat without dramatic dunes which produces a predictable golf course where nothing is manmade. This along with consistently true greens has endeared the course to many over the years.

The Island image

From Bernard Darwin to Darren Clarke, masterful observers and champion golfers alike have enjoyed this fascinating links layout located north of Dublin along the Irish Sea. This is one of the oldest clubs in Ireland founded in 1890.  Water surrounds the course on three sides. Massive dunes form virtual amphitheaters around several greens which are some of the best surfaces in the country.  The par-4s are the stars here. There are 13 in all, covering all lengths and configurations. The 7th is one of the finest, a slight dogleg left that requires two precise and powerful shots. Its unclear who laid out the original course, but a succession of experts followed:  Fred Hawtree, Eddie Hackett, Martin Hawtree and finally Mackenzie & Ebert whose remodel opened in 2019.  It is always impressive to us how so many of these clubs never rest on their laurels.

Royal County Down image

Northern Ireland’s Royal County Down is routinely ranked among the World Top 5 and never less than first or second among the great clubs of the UK and Ireland for two reasons: the beauty of the setting and the brilliance of the design. Old Tom Morris authored the first 18 hole course here and gets a healthy share of the credit for this masterpiece but George Coombe and Harry Colt also had a hand in it, as have Donald Steele and Martin & Ebert in recent years.  None would dispute however, that the site as it was found with its rugged dunes, natural corridors and hollows, golden gorse and purple heather was destined for greatness.  The ninth stands out among many.  This 427-yard par 4 begins with a blind tee shot to a fairway found eighty feet down a sidehill plunge where two cross bunkers protect a green saddled between two dunes.

Royal Belfast image

The oldest golf club in Ireland, this terrific parkland layout in a majestic wooded setting provides a stern test that’s pleasing for all players. The course begins with a firm handshake. The opening hole is a challenging dogleg left, featuring a small green that demands a precise iron shot. Tight, dogleg fairways lined by thick rough and strategically placed bunkers fill the landscape, until the 18th hole, a short-to-medium length par-5 that makes birdies available.
